The Blossom

I am like dirt on the ground
Where nothing good can be found
You were the seed that entered me
And flooded my heart entirely

Slowly you grew into a stem
And softly turned into a gem
A beautiful flower for me to see
And for everyone else to envy

Only you can bloom with splendor
And make my heart fully surrender
I cannot stop my eyes from staring
Nor keep my soul from caring

Only a blossom as stunning as you
Can make my love for you spew
For I am like dirt on the ground
Where my blossom can be found

The Dove

One day they laugh with cheer
The next day you’re filled with fear
You get the feeling something’s wrong
Nah, he’s all right, my friend is strong

Two days pass and not a word
And here’s a sign, a little white bird
Seated on your window sill
Then it hits you, you feel the chill

The snow white dove holds in his beak
A photo of the friend you seek
He drops it there in front of you
While this face no more stares at you

This here little dove
Opens your heart filled with love
Though only a picture remains of their face
Your friend is surely in a better place

My Salvation Poem

I used to say I hate my life
And eased my pain with a knife
Dark and weary were my thoughts
In my head tangled like knots

Is this how I want to be
Living in uncertainty
Surely there is something better
Lord free me of this fetter

I know not what I do
Therefore I give it all to you
Everything I have and am
Lord touch me with your healing hand

With this loving mercy
Open my eyes to see
That all should say together
Jesus you are our father

God you gave your only son
The powerful and spotless one
What can I give I say
Here’s my life take it away

By the blood and cross I am saved
Free from sin in every way
Lord thank you for the price you paid
Forever in Heaven you shall reign

Your Vision

Why should I try and be
Anything more than what you see
God you made me with exact precision
Perfectly in your vision

I stand ready to lose it all
After all it is my call
I have no choice it’s your decision
After all it is your vision

Lord I am terrified of you
It is such a great and lovely view
Staring at you with suspicion
How dare I second guess your vision

When it is time for me to go
I shall reap what I sow
I close my eyes in conclusion
God how great is your vision

Never too late

People worry about a broken bone
But rarely heal their broken home
Eyes wide open to what seems real
Look at your spouse, how do you feel?

Don’t even think to hesitate
You already spoke too late
Words that you never say
Are standing in the way

When you said the words “I do”
How quickly did they pass through?
Did you even look her in the eye?
You say yes, another lie

Your hands are red, her face, black and blue
Tell me sir, what didn’t she do for you?
Look at you tall as you stand
How could you call yourself a man?

Love is what is in her heart
Yet you love to tear it apart
Lay a hand not to strike
But lay a hand to make it right

Seek the Lord before it’s too late
Don’t even try to concentrate
Now sir it is you to be broken
Listen to what he has spoken

It’s not too late to save it all
Entrust your God with the fall
Realize you have done some wrong
Change your life and sing His song

Now you know of the spirit
Listen, and actually hear it
Hug your wife and give her love
And thank the one seated above
